Care for people in situations of dependency · Institut Carles Vallbona

Presentation
General information about the degree
This intermediate-level vocational course prepares you to care for people who depend on others for daily life, both in their own homes and in institutions such as residential centres. You will learn to improve their quality of life with non-medical support: helping with personal hygiene and dressing, organising meals, looking after the home and supporting communication. When you finish, you receive the title of technician. Part of the course takes place in companies in the sector, through the general dual vocational training model, so you can apply what you learn in real situations.
During the two years you will study personal hygiene care, home support, psychosocial care and support, first aid and telecare. You will also work on professional English and on digital tools applied to productive sectors. Afterwards you can work as an assistant for people in situations of dependency, a home help assistant, a floor assistant in residences, a personal assistant or a telecare operator.
This course is for you if you enjoy looking after and helping others, if you are patient, and if you want a job that involves direct contact with people. Later on you can also take the baccalaureate or continue with a higher-level vocational course.
