What do you study in Excavation and Drilling?

If you enjoy hands-on fieldwork and heavy machinery, and want to understand how construction starts from the ground up, this vocational programme is for you. You will learn to work directly on excavations, drilling operations and controlled blasting, mastering the techniques and equipment used on large-scale projects.

  • Underground and open-pit drilling with specialised machinery
  • Simulated blasting techniques: preparing, loading and initiating inert explosives
  • Supporting underground excavations with frames, arches, anchors and rock bolts
  • Stabilising slopes to ensure safety in open excavations
  • Boreholes, geotechnical work and selective excavation
  • Loading, transport and heavy machinery operations

After completing the programme, you will be able to work as a miner, shotfirer, drill operator, drilling machinery operator or loader driver, among other essential roles in the extractive industry and large-scale infrastructure construction.
