General information about the degree

The Machining course teaches you how to make industrial parts from metals and other materials. You will learn to remove material in a controlled way, using machine tools, so that each part matches its drawing. When you finish, you will know how to set up and run these machines and check that the final product has the quality it needs.

During the course you will work with lathes, milling machines and computer-controlled machining centres, and you will learn to program them. You will also study metrology and testing so you can measure accurately, read technical drawings, and use processes such as electrical discharge machining and abrasion. You can work in metal manufacturing industries as a machine tool operator, lathe operator, milling operator, industrial robot operator or metal polisher.

This course suits someone who enjoys working with their hands and with machines, and who notices details. At this centre you can also take it in the dual format, combining classes with real work in a company.
