General information about the degree
The Welding and Boilermaking course is a mid-level Vocational Training programme. You will learn to make, assemble and repair metal parts and structures, such as tanks, pipes or building frames. When you finish, you will get the Technician title, which prepares you to work directly in a company in the industrial sector.
During the course you will work with manufacturing drawings and learn to mark out, cut and shape metal sheets and profiles. You will also practise different types of welding, such as oxyacetylene, arc and resistance welding, and learn to check that parts are well made. Afterwards you could work as a welder, sheet metal worker or boilermaker, metal structure fitter, metal joiner or industrial pipefitter. You can also go on to another Vocational Training course or take specialisation courses.
This is a good choice if you like working with your hands, using tools and seeing the result of what you build. It suits you if you prefer practical training and want to start working soon in a trade with plenty of demand.
