📚 General Description

The Bachelor's Degree in Nursing at Universidad Miguel Hernández de Elche (UMH) trains professionals to provide safe, person-centred, evidence-based health care at every level of the health system and at every stage of life. The programme combines scientific knowledge, clinical skills and ethical values, and builds competences in patient care, disease prevention, the promotion of healthy habits and the management of health resources. It also develops research skills, critical thinking and professional leadership.

✨ Specific Information

It is taught at the Faculty of Medicine on the Sant Joan d'Alacant Campus, on site and in Spanish, and was first offered in 2025/2026. The degree comprises 240 ECTS over four years: 60 basic-training credits, 78 compulsory, 6 elective, 90 of external placements and a 6-ECTS Final Degree Project. The first year covers subjects such as anatomy, physiology, biochemistry and microbiology, or pharmacology and clinical nutrition; later years address nursing care in childhood and adolescence, adults and older adults, mental health and addictions, family and community nursing, palliative care, health management, and emergency care. Clinical placements are spread across seven subjects from the second year onwards. Electives include, among others, wound care, school health and development cooperation.

A solid grounding in Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics is recommended, together with an interest in health and care, a vocation for service, empathy and the ability to offer emotional support to people who are suffering.

🚀 Professional Pathways

The degree qualifies graduates for the regulated profession of Nurse in Spain (Orden CIN/2134/2008). It opens the way to community, hospital (including critical care units and emergency services) and social-care settings, care management, independent practice, the healthcare industry, research and teaching, as well as to master's studies.
