General information about the degree

This higher-level Vocational Training course teaches you how to set up, manage and maintain computer systems. Once you finish, you will know how to keep the servers and computers of an organisation running well, safely and without interruptions. It includes a work placement in companies, so you can apply what you learn in a real setting.

You will learn to install and manage server operating systems, set up networks and services such as the web or email, create and maintain databases, and protect the system against failures and attacks. Afterwards you could work as a systems administrator, network technician, technical support staff member or database administrator, or in the IT department of almost any organisation.

It often suits people who enjoy tracking down faults and understanding how equipment works inside, and who don't mind carrying on learning, because technology changes quickly.
