General information about the degree

The Higher Technician in Metal Constructions is a two-year vocational course that you can take on site, or in dual format, where you combine classes with real work in a company. Here you will learn to design and make metal structures and products, such as tanks, pipes and industrial frames. By the end, you will know how to plan and control their production from start to finish.

Over the two years you will work on technical drawing and design with CAD software, cutting, shaping and joining processes, and programming of CNC machines and robots. You will also study quality management, workplace safety and production planning. You could work as a draughtsperson, CAD design technician for boilermaking and structures, automated systems programmer, manufacturing supervisor or workshop manager in companies doing boilermaking, piping, vehicle bodywork, shipbuilding or petrochemical work.

This course suits you if you like solving problems with your hands and on the computer, and if you enjoy seeing an idea on a plan turn into a real piece of metal.
