General information about the degree

This higher-level vocational course teaches you to design mechanical products, from parts and machines to the tools used to make them in industry. By the end you will know how to calculate the sizes of a product, choose its materials and prepare the technical documents so that others can manufacture it. It runs for two years of in-person classes in the morning.

You will study mechanical product design, mould design for plastics and for casting, tooling for sheet metal and stamping, and manufacturing automation. You will also cover manufacturing techniques, digitalisation, sustainability and professional English. With this qualification you can work as a technical draughtsperson, CAD technician, or product, mould and die development technician, mainly in companies making machinery, electrical equipment and transport materials.

It may suit you if you enjoy drawing on a computer and are curious about how the everyday objects around us are built.
