General information about the degree

This intermediate-level course teaches you how to assemble and maintain the machines and installations that keep a factory running. More and more people are needed to look after automated production lines, because industry uses more electricity, electronics and automation every year. When you finish, you will be able to start up an installation and make sure it works well and safely.

During the course you will learn electrical systems and electrical automation, pneumatic and hydraulic systems, manufacturing and joining techniques for mechanical parts, and how to diagnose and repair faults. You will work in workshops with lathes, electrical panels and programmable controllers, and you can also take the course in a dual format, combining study at the centre with real work in a company. Afterwards you could work as a maintenance mechanic, industrial fitter, industrial electrician or automated line technician.

It suits you if you enjoy taking things apart and fixing them, and if you learn better with your hands than from notes alone.
