General information about the degree
This intermediate-level course trains you to make furniture and joinery, from preparing the wood to getting the finished product ready to leave the workshop. By the end you will be able to read drawings and technical catalogues, set up machines and assemble pieces while checking that the measurements are correct.
During the course you will study joinery materials, basic wood operations, machining with computer numerically controlled (CNC) machines, and assembly and finishing such as varnishing and lacquering. You will also cover workplace safety and environmental protection, and do work placements in a company in the sector.
Afterwards you could work as a machine operator making wood products, a joinery assembler, a varnisher and lacquerer, or a head of a finishing section in furniture factories and joinery firms.
