Presentation
General information about the degree
This medium-level Vocational Training course prepares you to care for people who need help with their daily lives, either at home or in an institution. Your job is to maintain and improve their quality of life, helping them with personal hygiene, meals, mobility and keeping the home clean. By the end, you will know how to support each person according to their individual care plan, while also looking after your own safety and that of the people you care for. It is taught on site at the Somorrostro centre, in San Juan, and you can study it in Spanish or in Basque.
You will study topics such as the needs of people in situations of dependency, psychosocial support and communication, basic health care, teleassistance and first aid. You will also do work placements in real workplaces to practise what you have learnt. With this qualification you can work as a carer in homes and institutions, a gerocultor, a home help assistant, a personal assistant or a teleassistance operator.
This course often suits people who are patient, empathetic and keen to support others in their everyday lives.
